News 2022:

My exhibition in November 2022 at duckrabbit went down a different path. Not wanting to reproduce earlier artworks for the sake of commercial sales, and to feed my natural instinct to discover, renew, refresh and extend my visual language and techniques, I’ve undertook a new series of boards which, although inspired by landscape/s and landscape artists I denied anyliteral interpretation of the landscape by the eliminating horizon lines, skies, clouds, hills and mountains, figures, animals, trees, rivers or other such tropes commonly found in the genre. Painted words are often inserted into the image to further remove the end result from categorisation. In my paintings, the landscape is simply alluded to and may emerge to the viewer by sustained focus on the image itself. However this is not my intention, as the author of the work I want the viewer to accept the image as an experience, an environment, an ecosystem, a landscape in it’s own right.
