When I started art school in Sydney in 1976, my idea was to eventually do graphic design. Then I met my painting teachers, Peter Upward, Roy Jackson, Sue Archer and other artists within their orbit, Elizabeth Cummings, John Peart to name just two. I was instantly attracted to the large, free-flowing, tactile, inventiveness and freedom in their art and also by their international contemporaries. Subsequently my original intentions were buried.
